I'm just finishing my B.A. and I'm 24. I'm having difficulty choosing between 2 options for my future. I have a passion for social work and helping others and am also interested in law. I have to make a decision soon because of application deadlines whether I should get my Masters in Social Work (MSW) which would be another 2 years of my life or get a Paralegal certificate which would be about a year more. I feel like it is not worth it to get my MSW because of the low pay, length of program, and job prospects of that profession. However, with paralegal it is a short program and the pay and job prospects are good but it is just a certificate and not a Master's. I would like to have accomplished receiving my Master's but in the social work field the pay is not great and to go through with a master's I just feel like it might be a waste of time and not worth it for my future. I want to buy a nice house and all that but I'm afraid I might not be happy with paralegal for the long run. Overall, my dilemma is whether I should go after what I'm passionate for or the money. With the economy today, I feel like I should choose the money side. Any advice.
